What counts as a correction
A correction may involve an incorrect number, unit, purity, city, timestamp, formula, label, attribution or material statement. Styling changes and ordinary wording improvements are not treated as factual corrections.
Assessment process
A reported issue should be checked against the underlying observation, calculation inputs and page version. If the evidence is incomplete, the page should not be silently changed merely to match an unverified claim.
- Confirm the exact URL and displayed value
- Check effective time separately from publication time
- Recalculate conversions from the stored base observation
- Determine which derived pages or messages were affected
- Record the decision and remediation
How corrections appear
Minor errors are corrected in place. A material rate or interpretation error should carry a visible correction note explaining what changed and when. If the underlying data cannot be verified, the affected value should be marked unavailable rather than guessed.
WhatsApp corrections
When a material website error has also been distributed through WhatsApp, the correction should be sent through the same audience channel and should link to the corrected page.
