How GoldRateUpdate.net Handles Market Data
Every displayed rate has a defined market, unit, purity, observation time and status. This page explains the validation, cache and display rules used by the live data system.
Rate status labels
Calculated
A clearly described formula converts a direct benchmark into another purity, weight or currency.
Stale
The most recent valid observation is older than its permitted freshness window and is visibly marked.
Unavailable
No compliant current value exists. The interface shows no number instead of silently inventing one.
Update timing
Rates are fetched at 9:00 AM, 3:00 PM and 6:00 PM Pakistan Standard Time. A successful run receives one publication timestamp, including seconds, and remains cached until the next accepted update.
Original observations
The data layer preserves the provider timestamp, fetched timestamp, market, unit, currency and raw value before any display conversion is applied.
Conversion rules
One tola equals 11.6638038 grams and one troy ounce equals 31.1034768 grams. Carat equivalents use the 24K benchmark multiplied by karat divided by 24.
Corrections and licences
A correction should retain its audit trail. Values that require a separate publication licence, including the KSE-100 index, remain unavailable until that permission is in place.
Core display formulas
Purity price = 24K price × (karat ÷ 24)Weight price = per-tola price × (grams ÷ 11.6638038)Calculations retain full precision internally and round only for display. A provider’s direct purity quote takes precedence over a calculated equivalent when both are valid.
Attribution and user-facing source labels
The main rate grid stays uncluttered and does not include a source column. Provider credentials and authentication details remain server-only, while internal fetch and validation records are retained for operational review.
